SIS do have alternatives to this feed. However, it remains unclear what arrangements are in place to deliver any alternative into your EPOS systems.

A Bet A have made developments to integrate both of SIS's new feeds -  Data365 and BAF (Bet Automation Feed). However, since A Bet A do not provide or transmit SIS data they have no control over the delivery of such data to end users.

It is, therefore, vital that all customers using this feed contact SIS and determine arrangements for continued delivery of data into their systems.

This is likely to be a matter of concern for small Irish bookmakers currently trading online or operating a telephone betting service for UK based customers.

Northern Ireland customers are not likely to be included in this change as the Gambling Commission has no jurisdiction within Northern Ireland.

Further Update (19/07/2011)

betsol have asked both the Gambling Commission and the Department for Culture Media and Sport to clarify the impact of proposed changes on Northern Ireland based bookmakers servicing UK based clients.

Both departments have referred me to the other and it is likely that clarity will not be available until draft legislation is made available. It is further likely to be two years before this proposed legislation becomes law.

Racing will now take place every Friday evening starting on September 23rd 2011 and continuing until 30th March 2012 with the exception of Friday 30th December 2011.

This would seem to be good news for betting shop owners as they will now be able to remain open throughout the winter on Friday evenings.
